India banned on Tuesday, more than 175 apps, as well as 43 apps prejudicial to India's sovereignty and integrity, according to the government. Meanwhile, India cited cybersecurity concerns to block these apps. The India’s IT Ministry reported that action was taken based on the comprehensive reports received from Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center.

Moreover, the apps that have been banned include Tencent-backed popular short video service Snack Video, which had surged to the top of the chart in recent months, as well as e-commerce  AliExpress, delivery app Lalamove and shopping app Taobao Live.

In recent weeks, PUBG has registered a local entity in India, partnered with Microsoft for computing needs, and publicly vowed to invest $100 million in the country.

On September, PUBG Corporation responded that it is actively monitoring the situation around the recent bans of PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik and PUBG MOBILE Lite in India, after the mobile version of the game has been banned in India.

According to the company statement, PUBG Corporation fully understands and respects the measures taken by the government as the privacy and security of player data is a top priority for the company. It hopes to work hand-in-hand with the Indian government to find a solution that will allow gamers to once again drop into the battlegrounds while being fully compliant with Indian laws and regulations.

The company confirmed that it will no longer authorise the PUBG Mobile franchise to Tencent Games in India and this might help it to be back online for everyone.

In April, India made a change to its foreign investment policy that requires Chinese investors who have ploughed billions of dollars into Indian startups in recent years, to take approval from New Delhi before they could write new checks to Indian firms. The move has significantly reduced Chinese investors’ presence in Indian startups’ deal flows in the months since.
