The death toll from the collapse of a pedestrian suspension bridge collapsed in India's western state of Gujarat has risen to at least 130.
France 24 news channel quoted Indian officials as saying that most of the victims drowned after falling into the river under the bridge, noting that more than 80 people have been rescued.
Local media reported that about 500 people, including women and children, were on the Morbi suspension bridge performing rituals for a major religious festival when the wires supporting it broke, causing the entire structure to collapse into the river.
The bridge is located in Morbi, 200 km west of Ahmedabad, the main city of Gujarat, and is 233 meters high.
