India is rapidly advancing its artificial intelligence-ready public data infrastructure, strengthening access to official datasets and enabling smarter, data-driven governance across key sectors, according to TV BRICS.

According to official statements, a growing ecosystem of digital platforms is improving data availability in areas such as healthcare, agriculture, and meteorology, supporting the deployment of advanced analytics and AI technologies in public services.

At the center of this effort is the launch of the e-Sankhyiki platform in 2024, a national statistics portal that hosts more than 136 million records across 21 statistical products. The platform allows users to directly query datasets, integrate them into analytical systems, and automate reporting, significantly enhancing efficiency in evidence-based policymaking.

Authorities say its unified interface simplifies access to multiple datasets, reducing retrieval times and enabling policymakers and analysts to generate insights more effectively.

Complementing this system is the National Data and Analytics Platform, which consolidates datasets from 52 government ministries spanning 31 sectors. Equipped with advanced analytics and visualization tools, the platform is designed to deliver deeper insights and improve coordination across government functions.

In the healthcare sector, India has introduced the Benchmarking Open Data Platform for Health AI (BODH) in February 2026. The platform provides a structured environment for evaluating AI models using diverse, anonymized datasets, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability before wider deployment.

Meanwhile, meteorological agencies are increasingly leveraging AI and machine learning to enhance forecasting and environmental monitoring, reinforcing India’s broader shift toward AI-powered governance systems.

Together, these initiatives position India at the forefront of integrating AI with public data infrastructure, aiming to improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and service delivery nationwide.
