A big number of world-renowned celebrities, wearing their finest thread, descended upon the red carpet of the 2020 Oscars ceremony held last night at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Egyptian legendary actress Youssra appeared at the ceremony wearing an ivory-colored Zuhair Murad gown with capped sleeves. The Lebanese designer was also responsible for creating the sheer black, gold-embellished design worn by British television presenter Carly Steel and American model Molly Sims’ long-sleeve plunging number on the red carpet.
Youssra was selected among the 842 jury members from 59 countries by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences along with Egyptian director Amr Salamah and producer Mohamed Hefzy.
The Egyptian cinematic icon has appeared in more than 50 films since making her big-screen debut in 1977’s Fatah Tabhath Aan Al-Hob, is also a UN Goodwill Ambassador.
Meanwhile, Canadian actress Sandra caught eyes her for the occasion, choosing a statement, pale pink ruffled confection with larger-than-life, tulle shoulders that was plucked hot from the Lebanese designer’s most recent couture runway, which he showcased last month in Paris.
Elsewhere on the red carpet, Lilliana Vazquez looked stunning at the cinema's most important night of the year wearing a long, strapless beaded dress from Beirut-born designer Rami Kadi.
Other memorable looks include Scarlett Johansson in a transparent corseted Oscar de la Renta design and star Natalie Portman “Black Swan” who appeared in a feminist look in Dior’s ethereal embroidered cape with the names of female directors overlooked by the Academy including Greta Gerwig of “Little Women”— stitched into the fabric.
Meanwhile, actress Margot Robbie dazzled with a jewel pendant and cuff sleeves that were completely detached from the strapless navy dress. “Booksmart” star Kaitlyn Dever also used the Oscars red carpet to promote more eco-friendly practices in the industry by donning a crimson Louis Vuitton dress made with the Red Carpet Green Dress (RCGD) sustainable standards in mind.
