President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Saturday at the Republican Palace in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, with Mr. Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, and Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdouk.
Firstly, Sisi and Al-Burhan held talks, followed by expanded talks that included the delegations of the two countries, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
For his part, Al-Burhan said that the Sudanese leadership, government and people welcome the visit of Sisi, stressing the characteristic of Egyptian-Sudanese relations.
He lauded Egypt's stances in support of Sudan in all fields, to face the repercussions of the various crises, as well as contributing to raising the name of Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
The Sudanese leader affirmed that the Egyptian positions are a reflection of the historical and strategic relations between the two countries.”
On the level of bilateral relations, Al-Burhan emphasized Sudan's aspiration and keenness to activate joint projects between Egypt and Sudan and to enhance the prospects for cooperation at various levels, especially at the political, economic, security and military levels.
“The president expressed his appreciation to his brother, chairperson of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, for the warm reception and generous hospitality, stressing the ties of brotherhood, affection and common history between the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples," Rady added.
Sisi also affirmed Egypt's support for all efforts to promote peace, stability and development in Sudan during this pivotal stage in its history, based on the firm conviction that the security and stability of Sudan is an integral part of Egypt's security and stability.
"Egypt's hand is always and forever ready for cooperation, goodness and construction," Sisi reaffirmed during the meeting.
Secondly, Hamdok welcomed Sisi in his second country, Sudan, expressing Khartoum’s appreciation for the close cooperation relations with Egypt.
The Sudanese PM also affirmed that there are broad prospects for developing joint cooperation between the two countries.
The talks witnessed a discussion of the various frameworks and horizons of joint cooperation between Egypt and Sudan, stressing the importance of supporting and strengthening it for the benefit of the two brotherly countries and peoples, by optimizing all available opportunities to enhance integration.
The latest developments related to the negotiations of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) were also discussed, as consensus was reached on intensifying joint efforts during the coming period in various forums to push towards reaching a binding and balanced legal agreement on filling and operating the dam.
Rady manifested that Sisi Sisi met also with Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo "Hemedti", Vice President of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, within the framework of his official visit to the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.
