Upon directives given by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Armed Forces of Egypt prepared and equipped two military planes carrying quantities of medical supplies, protective suits and disinfection materials provided by Egypt to Italy.

This move comes in the context of Egypt’s support and solidarity with friendly countries and in the context of historical relations and ties between the two countries, according to statements given by Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Bassam Rady on Saturday.

“This move shall contribute to alleviating the burden on Italy in its current ordeal, especially in light of its severe shortage of medicines, medical supplies, and protection and protection tools amid the rapid spread of the Corona virus and the high rate of injuries and deaths in Italy,” Rady added.

The presidential spokesperson noted that this assistance comes from Egypt's pioneering role towards friendly countries around the world, in addition to providing permanent support and solidarity in times of adversity and crisis.
