It is reported that the Saudi Imam and Quran reciter Abu Bakr al-Shatri has contracted the China-originated coronavirus during his stay in London.

A number of Imams, sheikhs, who are very close to Al-Shatri, confirmed today that the latter, while in London, has contracted the deadly virus.

They also asked ALLAH to grant the Saudi Imam a speedy recovery and get better sooner.

Al-Shatri was born in 1970 in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). He is a leading reciter of the Qur’an.

Although he studied accounting, he became increasingly influential for his recitation of the Qur’an at international Islamic events, particularly across the Middle East and in Saudi Arabia.

It is noteworthy that the kingdom's Health Ministry confirmed on Friday that the coronavirus cases in the country surpassed 1,100.

“Up to 92 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed and this upped the total number of the confirmed cases to 1104,” the ministry said in a statement.

It also added that there are no coronavirus deaths during the last twenty-four hours as the Arab country had reported only three death since the spread of the COVID-19.

“Up to 35 cases have totally recovered from the virus” it added.

The ministry also added that most of the infected cases are in a stable condition, and only six detected cases are in critical condition, as they receive the appropriate health care in the intensive care department.

The virus hit more than 500,000 people and claimed the lives of more than 24000 across the world.

It is worth mentioning that the World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic on March 11 as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 121,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
