IMF Optimistic about Egypt's Economic Recovery from Global Crisis- Minister

Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) sees the ability of the Egyptian economy to recover from the repercussions of the current global economic crisis.

Director General of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva confirmed that the fund will continue to provide all support to Egypt to complete its successful economic reform, and that communication is currently underway with the Egyptian team to coordinate on the new programme for Egypt, which aims to support the structural reforms of the economy.

Maait added that Egypt is looking forward to the IMF's continued support for the Egyptian economy to overcome the current global crisis; in line with the positive cooperation that culminated in a comprehensive and successful national programme for economic reform.

After his meeting with Georgieva, on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank, the minister reiterated that the new programme, which is being consulted on, aims to support structural reforms that support the Egyptian economy.
