The International Monetary Fund (IMF) lowered its forecasts for the performance of the Arab region's economies this year, with the exception of four countries: Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, and Qatar.
The most pessimistic forecast was for Sudan, with an 8.7% reduction, recording a 0.4% contraction in 2025. Iraq followed, with the IMF lowering its forecast for its economy by 5.6%, recording a 1.5% contraction this year.
The positive outlook was for Morocco, with the IMF raising its forecast by 0.3% to 3.9%, and for Egypt by 0.2% to 2.8%. The IMF also raised its forecast for Algeria and Qatar's economic growth by 0.5%, recording increases of 3.5% and 2.4%, respectively, in 2025.
