Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met with Kristalina Georgieva on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Africa–France Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.
According to the Egyptian presidency, President Sisi expressed Egypt’s appreciation for its productive cooperation with the International Monetary Fund in implementing the country’s economic reform program.
The discussions focused on Egypt’s structural reform agenda and broader efforts aimed at achieving sustainable economic development and strengthening macroeconomic stability despite ongoing international and regional challenges.
President Sisi welcomed the successful completion of the fifth and sixth reviews of Egypt’s IMF-supported reform program, which were approved by the IMF Executive Board in February, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to continuing economic reforms.
During the meeting, Georgieva praised what she described as Egypt’s strong political will and serious commitment to advancing economic reform efforts designed to support macroeconomic stability, fiscal discipline, and improvements in the business environment.
She also emphasized the IMF’s commitment to maintaining close cooperation with the Egyptian government in support of its reform and development efforts.
