Egypt’s cabinet Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) highlighted the country’s efforts to develop diverse tourism offerings and attract investment, saying the sector continues to witness strong growth supported by state-backed development initiatives.
In a statement, the IDSC reviewed efforts to upgrade tourism services, improve workforce skills and promote Egypt’s wide range of tourism products, including cultural, environmental and safari tourism.
Hamdi Ezz, head of Egypt’s Tourism Syndicate, said the country remained an attractive environment for tourism investment, citing expanding opportunities in hotels, restaurants and tourism services as Egypt seeks to increase tourist arrivals.
He said the syndicate was working to improve the capabilities of tourism-sector employees through specialised training programmes covering tourism companies, hotels and restaurants in line with global developments in the industry.
Ezz added that eco-tourism has gained increasing attention in recent years, particularly desert camping activities that rely on environmentally friendly materials and sustainable practices.
The statement also quoted acting head of the Tourist Guides Syndicate Samir Abdel Wahab as saying tour guides represented Egypt’s “civilizational image” and one of its key soft-power tools.
Abdel Wahab said Egypt’s tourism diversity strengthened its position on the global tourism map, highlighting safari tourism across Egypt’s western desert oases, including Siwa, Bahariya, Farafra, Dakhla and Kharga.
He also pointed to attractions such as the White Desert, known for its rare limestone formations and sand dunes, as well as archaeological sites in Saqqara, Minya, Aswan and Abu Simbel.
The statement added that Alexandria combines leisure tourism with historical attractions, including the Qaitbay Citadel, the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa and underwater antiquities.
