About 300 doctors in the Israel Defence Force (IDF) reserve service announced Wednesday evening that they will stop serving in a protest of the judicial overhaul that the government intends to approve.
On Tuesday, Israel witnessed mass demonstrations, under the slogan "National Resistance Day", called for and organized by the opposition.
The demonstrators protested the plan of Benjamin Netanyahu's government for judicial overhaul.
Israeli public radio (Kan) said that several reserve service doctors had informed the responsible authority in the army that they would stop volunteering because of the Netanyahu government's insistence on judicial changes.
The radio quoted Professor Eran Dolev, a former chief medical officer, as saying: "Netanyahu's government aims to eliminate Zionist values, threatening the judiciary and democracy, and we will not allow that."
