The International Court of Justice (ICJ) announced on Tuesday evening that Mexico has officially joined South Africa in its lawsuit against Israel regarding the violations committed in the Gaza Strip and the alleged genocide against the Palestinian people.

In its application, Mexico stated that it seeks to intervene to present its views on the possible interpretation of the provisions of the Genocide Convention, in relation to the case brought by South Africa against Israel, according to a statement by the ICJ.

Last week, the ICJ ordered Israel to immediately halt its attack on the Palestinian city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. Despite the ICJ's order to cease the war on Rafah, an Israeli airstrike on western Rafah resulted in the death of approximately 45 people last night, in what has been described as the Rafah Tent Massacre.
