Following his winning in Tunisia’s presidential election on October 13, Kais Saied and his wife Ichraf Chebil have been under media lights. Media outlets hurried to cover Saied’s news. Many wrote about his profile and career history. However, his wife is still a secret part of Saied’s life.

While Tunisian newly-elect President Saied was delivering a speech on Sunday, following his victory announcement, a woman was seen watching him carefully and her eyes were full of eagerness.

Chebil appeared for first time to the public when she was casting her vote at the first round of the Tunisian presidential polls.

Later, she was seen several times at Saied’s presidential campaign’s headquarters.

Many social media platforms’ users expressed their admiration of Mrs. Chebil describing her as a “key player in helping Saied reaching the “Carthage Palace”, the official palace of the republic of Tunisia.

Nevertheless, she did not attend any of Saied’s meetings and gatherings.

Her photos are widely spread now on social media networks. Accordingly, thousands of Arab women commented on her outfit.

“Chebil’s outfit reflects her high-level of education,” wrote many social media fans.

Saied and Chebil’s Love Story

During a radio interview in 2017, Saied disclosed that he and his wife got to know each other during the university period.

“A love story was born between us,” Saied said.

Saied and Chebil have three children; Sarah, Mona and Amr.

Chebil is the first female judge to live inside the Carthage Palace and the eighths woman to be Tunisia’s first lady.

However, she is not expected to play a big role in the public affairs, according to a report issued by the BBC.

Saied vowed to annul the “First Lady Post” and keep his family “away from politics throughout his presidential term.

Family of Judges!

Her father was a judge at the Court of Cassation. She followed her father’s footsteps and studied law at the University of Soussa.

She met Saied when he was teaching law at the University of Soussa.

She earned a Master in Criminal Sciences and was later appointed as the president of the civic chamber of the Tribunal of the First Instance.

Her husband retired from legal profession in 2018.

In 2014, he was a member of the expert committee invited to offer comments to the draft Constitution of Tunisia.
