The International Criminal Court (ICC) has decided to phase out all US-made software, replacing Microsoft products with OpenDesk, a platform developed by the German company ZenDIS, according to German broadcaster WDR.
The decision reportedly comes in response to concerns over potential sanctions from the administration of US President Donald Trump, who has been highly critical of the ICC following its arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The court accuses Netanyahu of involvement in alleged war crimes in Gaza.
Trump previously imposed personal sanctions on ICC judges who supported investigations into American citizens and US allies, extending the restrictions to their family members as well.
According to Reuters, citing unnamed sources on 22 October, Washington is now considering imposing sanctions on the ICC as an institution.
Six sources told the agency that a decision on similar punitive measures against “legal entities” could be announced in the near future.
