Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi, arrived in Japan on a visit aimed at presenting a report on the plan to discharge treated and softened water from the "Fukushima Daiichi" nuclear power plant into the sea.
Grossi is scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to deliver his agency's assessment of the plan announced by the Japanese government two years ago.
IAEA was examining whether the plan was safe and ways to monitor the results after implementation.
IAEA Director- General had previously declared that if the project was carried out appropriately in accordance with safety standards, it would not negatively affect the environment.
