Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, announced his intention to visit the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant next week.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Grossi stated that he plans to visit the Kursk nuclear facility to speak with its management and assess whether it has been subjected to any attacks. He also aims to "evaluate the condition of this energy source from the outside and the access route to the plant" after Ukraine destroyed bridges across the Seym River.
Grossi noted that the nuclear power plant is "technically within artillery range" from Ukrainian positions. He emphasized that he takes the threat of the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant being damaged by Ukrainian forces very seriously.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that Moscow is in contact with Grossi regarding provocations by the Kyiv regime against the Kursk and Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plants.
Last week, Russian security services announced that Kyiv forces are planning to attack the Kursk and Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plants with a dirty bomb, and that the necessary warheads have been transported to the Dnipropetrovsk region in central Ukraine for this purpose.
