Hyundai Motor has announced plans to introduce human-like robots at its Georgia manufacturing plant in the United States starting in 2028, marking a major step toward automating high-risk and repetitive production tasks.

The South Korean automaker unveiled the production version of the humanoid robot, Atlas, developed by its subsidiary Boston Dynamics, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The robot is designed to perform tasks that are physically demanding or dangerous for human workers, aiming to improve safety and efficiency on the production line.

While Hyundai did not disclose the number of robots or their cost, the company confirmed in a statement that it intends to expand their use across all its manufacturing sites as part of its “Physical AI” initiative. The move reflects the growing trend in the automotive industry toward integrating robotics and artificial intelligence to optimise manufacturing operations.

Industry experts say the deployment of humanoid robots could reshape factory workflows, reduce workplace injuries, and allow human workers to focus on more skilled and creative roles, supporting Hyundai’s broader strategy of smart, automated production.
