Huge Fire Causes Panic in Baghdad, Attempts to Put It out (Video)

A large fire was witnessed by the Iraqi public in Baghdad, on Sunday, and documented by many videos on social media.

The blaze turned out that it occurred in a warehouse, and the firefighting teams could not put it out until now.

The fire, which occurred in the Al-Waziriya area in central Baghdad, on Sunday morning, has been going on for hours, with flames rising amid attempts by local authorities to control it.

The fire led to the collapse of part of the building, amid panic among the residents.

Iraqi media reported that the fire had injured 20 people so far.

On Sunday evening, the Civil Defense Directorate announced that its director and a number of firefighters were injured in the collapse of a commercial building in the Al-Waziriyah area of Baghdad.

The directorate said the commercial building where a fire broke out this morning in the Al-Waziriya area in Baghdad collapsed when the civil defense teams put it out.

"This resulted in the injury of the Director of Civil Defense, who was at the scene of the accident, and a number of firefighters," It added.

The Iraqi Interior Minister directed mobilizing efforts to control the fire.
