The stars from the original Harry Potter franchise are reuniting for the 20th anniversary special, “Return to Hogwarts“.
Streaming on HBO Max, the special is titled "Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts", and will feature several key members including Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, as they come together for the first time since the franchise.
The trio along with director Chris Columbus, are reunited to celebrate the anniversary of the movie that started it all, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”, which premiered 20 years ago, on January 16, 2002.
Return to Hogwarts is a one-time-only film event and the Harry Potter reunion special has a runtime of 1 hour and 45 minutes.
The cast members who will be joining the reunion also includes Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, and Ian Hart.

How to Stream Return to Hogwarts
The Harry Potter special is set to premiere at midnight PST on New Year’s Day, January 1 on HBO Max.
It is a HBO Max Original, meaning the only place to watch the reunion online is through the streaming service.
Once sign up for HBO Max, the audience can stream "Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts" online on the computer, tablet or phone.
Cricket Wireless is also offering a free subscription to anyone signed up for their $60 a month plan.
The special is also set to screen on WarnerMedia’s TBS and Cartoon Network in spring 2022 ahead of the Warner Bros. Pictures of the premiere of “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”, which debuts on April 15, 2022.
The special will feature all-new, in-depth interviews and cast conversations as well as take the audience on a magical first-person journey through the franchise.
The Harry Potter movie franchise is comprised of eight movies that were released between 2001 and 2011. It is among the highest-grossing movie franchises of all time.
The special is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter.
It is executive produced by Casey Patterson of Casey Patterson Entertainment and Pulse Films.
Will J.K. Rowling appear during the special?
While the Harry Potter film series was based on J.K. Rowling’s books of the same name, the author will not be appearing in person on Return to Hogwarts.
However, the special does include archival footage of Rowling from a 2019 interview, along with clips of the cast talking about their reactions to the book series, and what it was like meeting Rowling on set during the filming of the movies.
