How to Watch 2021 Oscars Ceremony on TV, Stream Online

The 93rd Academy Awards, also known as Oscars, is set to take place today, Sunday, at the Art Deco Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, with some elements at the ceremony’s traditional home of the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The audience capacity is set at 170 people with those in the crowd being rotated in and out of the ceremony.

What to expect?

The ceremony is treated as a TV/film production thus nominees, their guests, presenters, and other attendees will not be required to wear masks.

However, when guests are off the camera, they will be asked to wear masks for instance they are to be put on during commercial breaks at the 93rd Academy Award, with have been a number of pandemic-enforced changes taking place.

The producers of the Oscars have also revealed recently that the ceremony will have the look and feel of a movie as well as give the winners more time for speeches, noting that the coronavirus masks will play a major role.

Who is hosting and presenting awards?

Presenters including Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford, and Halle Berry are said to be playing themselves or at least a version of themselves.

The ceremony will also be presented by many A-listers such as Reese Witherspoon, Renee Zellweger, Joaquin Phoenix, Don Cheadle, Regina King, Rita Moreno, Laura Dern, Zendaya, Angela Bassett, Bryan Cranston, Marlee Matlin, and last year´s best director winner Bong Joon Ho.

Nominees Riz Ahmed and Viola Davis are also set to present the ceremony.

Oscar winners’ speeches were previously limited to 45 seconds, this year, they were given space and encouraged to tell a story and to say something personal.

How to watch the ceremony?

The Oscars are set to broadcast in more than 200 territories worldwide.

E! will kick off red carpet coverage starting at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT. The ceremony will air on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. For Egypt, that's the early hours of Monday, April 26, starting at 2 AM.

For those who cannot watch the broadcast live on television, there are multiple other ways to watch the ceremony. ABC will stream the show live on its website, but the viewers will have to sign in with a participating TV provider, this can be a cable company or live streaming service.

It will also be available live through TV streaming services such as AT&T, Hulu with Live TV, and YouTube TV.

This year’s Oscar ceremony will obviously be different than years past, as the world is still struggling to return to normal amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
