The Houthi group announced that it carried out two military operations, the first of which targeted the power station east of the Jaffa area with a hypersonic ballistic missile.
The group's spokesman, Yahya Saree, said on Friday that the second operation was carried out by a drone, targeting a military target in Jaffa.
On its part, the Israeli army reported today that it shot down a drone launched from Yemen, hours after intercepting a missile launched by the Houthis that targeted Jerusalem and central Israel.
The army added that the drone was intercepted before it penetrated Israeli airspace. The sirens were not activated, according to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.
Earlier this morning, Al Hadath correspondent reported explosions in the vicinity of Jerusalem as a result of attempts to intercept a ballistic missile launched from Yemen.
He also added that parts of the missile fell in the Modi'in area near Jerusalem.
For several months, the Iranian-backed Houthi group has been insisting that it will continue to confront Israel, until the war on the Gaza Strip stops, despite Israeli threats.
Over the past year, it has launched missiles and booby-trapped drones towards Israel, but they have often not caused significant damage.
In response, the Israeli air force bombed several sites in Yemen, saying they were Houthi warehouses.
On December 18, 2024, dozens of Israeli fighter jets launched 16 raids on several Houthi sites in the capital, Sanaa, as well as Hodeidah overlooking the Red Sea, especially the ports of Al-Salif and Ras Issa, which Israel also bombed in late September.
Four raids also targeted various areas in the Al-Salif district, north of Hodeidah.
