On Friday, the Houthis announced that they were responsible for a drone attack on Tel Aviv, which resulted in the death of one person and injuries to others.
In a statement, the Houthi spokesperson declared that they targeted "one of the important targets" in Tel Aviv with a new drone named "Yafa." The spokesperson claimed that the drone could evade Israeli interception systems and radars, and that the operation achieved its goals successfully. However, the Israeli military stated that the drone that hit Tel Aviv was not intercepted due to "human error."
The Houthis also mentioned having a "bank of targets in occupied Palestine, including sensitive military and security targets," and affirmed that they have begun targeting these in response to Israeli massacres and daily crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
An Israeli military official confirmed that the drone was "very large" and capable of flying long distances. The official told reporters that the Houthis, who claimed responsibility for the attack, are "one of the possibilities" being considered.
The official explained that the drone was detected, but "human error" prevented the activation of interception and defense systems.
Israeli media reported that large numbers of security forces arrived at the explosion site in Tel Aviv following a loud explosion.
