The Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities aims to implement the first phase of the new city of Alexandria on an area of 60 feddans at an estimated cost of EGP 2.68 billion.
According to the city plan, the new city of Alexandria, covers an area of 417.6 feddans, including 205.5 feddans for housing, 78.5 feddans for services, 85.6 feddans for roads and 48 feddans for landscape.

The first phase of the city includes 20 residential plots out of a total of 105 plots with areas ranging from 1,000-2,000 square meters.
The plan revealed that the estimated cost of implementing facilities and coordinating 252,000 square meters of sites is estimated at EGP 806.4 million, of which EGP 693 million is set for facilities and EGP 113.4 million for landscape architecture.

The Ministry of Housing signed in mid-October a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Saudi Egyptian Construction Company (Secon) to manage, market and sell the first phase of the project.
Secon CEO Mohamed Al Taher said that the new city of Alexandria will transform 60 million meters of slums into habitable areas.
Al Taher added that the new city is located 6 km from the center, near the western desert extension on Lake Mariout.
