Sony Pictures Animation and Amazon are nearing over a $100 million deal for its animated movie “Hotel Transylvania: Transformania”, the fourth and final installment in the Hotel Transylvania franchise, to stream globally on Amazon Prime Video.

The first three movies of the monster family franchise have grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide since 2012.

As the surge in coronavirus cases, which is driven by the delta variant infecting unvaccinated people, made family movies premiering at theaters untenable since there is no vaccine yet for children under 12.

The studio began exploring an alternative release for the fourth installment, which had been slated to open in theaters on October 1.

A source with knowledge of the deal revealed Sony will retain rights to home entertainment, linear TV, and Chinese exhibition.

“Hotel Transylvania 4" is directed by Derek Drymon and Jennifer Kluska from a script by Amos Vernon, Nunzio Randazzo, and executive producer Genndy Tartakovsky.

Brian Hull and Brad Abrell are respectively voicing the characters of Dracula and Frankenstein, replacing original stars Adam Sandler and Kevin James in the role from the previous three movies.

In addition, the rest of the cast will also make a comeback, including Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, David Spade, Steve Buscemi, Kathryn Hahn, Jim Gaffigan, Molly Shannon, Keegan-Michael Key, and Fran Drescher. Gomez is also executive producing, along with Michelle Murdocca.
