The Education Committee in the House of Representatives (HoR), headed by MP Sami Hashem approved on Sunday a draft law that aims to improve the conditions of teachers in public and Azhar education schools.
The draft law includes a 50% increase in the value of the teacher allowance, ranging from EGP 75 to EGP 180 according to the teacher’s job level. A total of 1.4 million teachers will benefit from this rise, at an annual cost of EGP 1.8bn.
A total of 700,000 employees also will benefit from the rise, at a monthly average ranging from EGP 50 to EGP 155, at an annual cost of EGP 2.3bn.
Moreover, the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee approved a draft presidential decree regarding an amendment to the finance agreement signed with the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).
The agreement includes financing the establishment of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz University in South Sinai’s El-Tor city.
In addition, the Tourism and Aviation Committee headed by MP Amr Sidky approved the draft law to launch the Egyptian Umrah Electronic Portal.
The portal, supervised by the Ministry of Tourism and meant to facilitate the procedures for umrah, gives all Egyptian tourism companies an inpidual password to log onto the platform and feature their programs.
