CAIRO,Feb .28. (SEE)- Geneva Motor Show 2019, which launches on March 5, includes the world debut of production version of Honda's cute Urban EV. The compact urban electric hatchback that sounded the death knell for Honda’s UK car factory.
The obvious changes over the ''Urban EV'' are two rear doors for greater practicality, while the overall size and shape has inflated slightly.
In addition to the exterior and interior of the EV, which doesn’t yet have a name, are a radical shift from anything in Honda’s current range. The design team used the brand’s classic cars, such as: the "Mk1 Civic".
The circular LED headlights and wing-mounted cameras, which replace conventional wing mirrors, have been plucked from the retro looking Urban EV, as well as the ''Prototype’s'' matte white paint has also been inspired by the electric concept as have the black trim that runs around the bottom of the bodywork.
Honda's cabin standout feature is the futuristic displays spanning the width of the dashboard. A further two displays on either side of the three central panels will show footage from the rear facing cameras, which take the place of conventional door mirrors.
Honda has yet to confirm how much the e Prototype will cost but given the vehicle’s compact proportions, it’s unlikely that the EV will be cheap.
The Japanese carmaker is aiming to put its upcoming car into production in early 2019, with orders expected to open shortly after the big reveal at the Geneva show.
