Homat Al Watan, or 'Homeland Defenders' party has hailed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s speech on Libya delivered while inspecting Egypt's Western Military Zone accompanied by the heads and elders of Libyan tribes, Egyptian Minister of Defense and General Commander of the Armed Forces Mohamed Zaki, Chief-of-Staff Mohamed Farid, as well as leaders of the main branches of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
El-Sisi said on Saturday that any direct Egyptian intervention in Libya would have international legitimacy at this point.
On his part, Lieutenant-General Galal al-Haridi, head of Homat Al-Watan Party, said that President Sisi, in his speech, has set red lines required for maintaining Egypt's national security from the western borders, stressing that there will be a direct military reaction to any violation attempts.
He added that Sisi's speech was tantamount a stimulus for the Libyan people to be aware of foreign conspiracies plotted against them.
He noted that the Egyptian president also focused on the importance of providing support to the brotherly Libyan people.
"El-Sisi also was keen to confirm the strength of the Egyptian state and its strong diplomacy in dealing with threats, stressing that it abides by the peaceful courses in resolving regional crises, and refuses to interfere in other countries' affairs," he stated.
He added that adopting peaceful courses in dealing with crises is not weakness but rather a commitment to international laws, and Egypt's constitution, which raises the message of peace.
The party leader pointed out that El-Sisi sent a message to all those who just try prejudice Egypt's security, stressing, "The Egyptian army was “one of the strongest in the region”. “It is a rational army; an army that protects and does not threaten…this is our strategy, our beliefs and our principles that we will never change.”
President Sisi and Libya
He stated that the president called for a comprehensive settlement on Libya, noting that any direct Egyptian intervention has become legitimate in line with UNSC resolutions as the country will not allow any threat to the security of its western borders.
“If Egypt had illegitimate goals in Libya, we would have intervened years ago. Egypt supports a political solution but the situation is now different…Jufrah and Sirte are a red line…The current line must be maintained. The party which does not respect it, will attain neither the west nor the east. The political process must go forward,” the president has told a representative of Libyan tribes.
Al-Haridi called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and respond to the initiative of the Egyptian president to reach a comprehensive settlement that confirms the safety and security of Libyan lands, restore national institutions, eliminate terrorism and extremist militias and put an end to illegal foreign interference that feed terrorism in the region
Al-Haridi stressed his full confidence in the political leadership, represented by President El-Sisi, the armed forces, and state agencies to take all measures in favor of Egyptian and Arab national security.
