Egyptian Tennis player Mayar Sherif has made a historic leap in her classification among professional tennis players worldwide, after she was crowned the Charleston US Open on Sunday.

Egypt's Golden girl ranked 164 globally, before the tournament, succeeded in claiming the title after beating Polish Katarzyna Kawa by two consecutive sets.

Sherif got +136 points after winning the tournament that was held in the United States, bringing her score to 571 points.

Sherif jumped to be 132nd in the world women tennis ranking, which will be officially announced during the next few days.

Sherif's new ranking is the highest in the history of Egyptian female tennis players, as no female player has reached it before.

She is the first Arab player to win the Charleston championship, and the second African to win it, after South African Amanda Coetzer in 1998.

It is worth noting that American Chris Evert is the most Charleston tournament crowned player by 8 titles, followed by German Steffi Graf with four titles, then American Serena Williams with three titles.
