Higher Education Min.: 100 Scholarships to Offer By British Council

Cairo, Feb. 23 (SEE)- Minister of High Education Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced that 100 scholarships from  British Council will be offered, which come in line with a joint partnership between two sides.

His talk came during a meeting he had with the Director of the British Council Elizabeth White at the ministry’s building.

The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation between Egyptian and

British universities in the coming period.

New scholarships aim at improving levels of higher education and

scientific research fields and include English language training courses.

Abdel Ghaffar confirmed the strong relations between the two countries

especially in educational field; as many Egyptian experts have graduated from

British universities.

He also pointed that the ministry is looking forward to achieve maximum

benefits of Newton’s scholarship especially in community service field.

The minister also stated that other Egyptian universities’ educational

programs will be announced in the Global Forum for Higher Education and

Scientific Research to be held on April 4th .

He also pointed to “Going Global” forum to be launched on May 15th and

attended by specialists in all higher education specializations world-wide.

On her part, White praised Egyptian efforts to enhance higher education,

stressing on the importance of the Joint educational programs between the two

countries.

She also invited Abdel Ghaffar to attend graduation parties of British

universities’ students which will be held in the British council on February

26th.

It’s worth mentioning that, the meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed El

Shenawy, advisor to the minister for international relations and agreements and

Dr. Sahar Nasr, director of educational programs at the British Council.
