Nearly 175,000 Egyptian and foreign visitors visited the museums and archaeological sites across Egypt during the Eid Al-Fitr first and second days.

Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, explained that these numbers reflect the increase in incoming tourism to Egyptian tourist destinations, particularly cultural tourism. He also pointed out to the keenness and interest of the Egyptian people of all ages to visit the most important archaeological sites to learn about their history and ancient civilization, and to enjoy and tour during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled stressed that, in light of the directives of Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, the Supreme Council of Antiquities is continuing to develop and raise the efficiency of tourism services provided by museums and archaeological sites.
