WhatsApp launched the companion mode feature for all beta users on Android to let them sync chat history on up to four devices.

WeBetaInfo reported that the new tool will allow people to link their WhatsApp account to another mobile phone and use that phone to access their chats even if their primary phone is not connected to the internet.

In order to link a secondary Android device using companion mode, users must download the latest beta of WhatsApp Messenger or WhatsApp Business from Google Play.

Then, tap the overflow menu on the registration screen and click Link a device.

After this, with WhatsApp open on their primary device, users must tap on Settings > Linked devices before pointing their device to their secondary device and capturing the QR code.

Earlier this month, the social platform announced a new feature for Android (v2.23.8.4) to activate a bottom navigation bar as opposed to top-mounted tabs in the current stable version.

The bottom navigation bar has four buttons; Chats, Communities, Status, and Calls, which is similar to the layout of WhatsApp’s iOS app.

Meanwhile, the latest design change is currently under development. Once the implementation process is complete, it will be rolled out to the beta testers.
