Helwan University Explores Academic Cooperation with Italy’s Uninettuno University

Helwan University, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, held an online meeting with Italy’s Uninettuno University to discuss and develop areas of academic and scientific collaboration between the two universities across various fields.

A distinguished group of academic leaders from Helwan University participated in the meeting, including Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Mesallawy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Dr. Gamal Youssef, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration; Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Halim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Dr. Hesham Zareef, Coordinator of the Communications and Computer Engineering Program; Dr. Amani Mohamed, Coordinator of the Intelligent Systems Program at Helwan National University; Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Tony, Professor of Economics and Vice Dean of the Faculty; and Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Ardy, Head of the Accounting Department.

Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University, expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Hesham Badr for his efforts in coordinating this meeting, affirming that the university is keen to strengthen its international relations in support of educational and research development. He highlighted that Helwan University hosts more than 220,000 students across its specialized faculties, including the Faculty of Engineering, founded in 1962, and the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration, established in 1942.

The university currently offers over 1,150 academic programs and is in the process of establishing new Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, in addition to 12 international joint-degree programs in partnership with prestigious universities in Europe and Latin America. Helwan University also welcomes 7,000 international students representing 36 nationalities and has been ranked as the top Egyptian university in the field of cybersecurity, thanks to the contributions of its Faculty of Engineering and its specialized experts.

Helwan University is distinguished by the diversity of its academic disciplines, encompassing fields such as fine arts, music, sports sciences, engineering, tourism and hotel management, international trade, home economics, and social work. The university takes pride in the achievements of its students and faculty members both locally and internationally, the most recent being the election of Dr. Khaled El-Anany as Director-General of UNESCO.

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Mesallawy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, stated:

> “International cooperation is a fundamental pillar in the development of engineering education and scientific research. At Helwan University’s Faculty of Engineering, we take pride in our long-standing history and contributions to preparing distinguished engineering professionals. We welcome this collaboration with Uninettuno University and look forward to exchanging expertise and enhancing joint programs in communications, computer engineering, and intelligent systems — strengthening our students’ capabilities in line with the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence.”

Prof. Dr. Gamal Youssef, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration, added:

> “Our faculty strives to embrace leading international experiences and develop its academic programs to align with global economic transformations. Cooperation with Uninettuno University opens new horizons in accounting, economics, and business administration, contributing to the preparation of graduates capable of competing in the global labor market, especially with the launch of specialized programs such as Hospital Management and Banking Sciences.”
