A private helicopter carrying four people has crashed in a remote mountainous area of the US state of Arizona, local authorities said.
The Pinal County Sheriff's Office said it received reports at around 11:00 am of a helicopter crash in the mountains near Telegraph Canyon, south of the town of Superior.
In a statement posted on social media, the sheriff’s office said emergency teams were immediately dispatched and later confirmed from the air that the aircraft had crashed.
The condition of the four people on board remains unclear, as rescue teams are facing significant challenges reaching the site due to its rugged terrain and remote location. Authorities said access difficulties have slowed ground operations while aerial assessments continue.
The crash is now under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
The FAA has imposed temporary flight restrictions over the area to ensure safety during the investigation and rescue efforts.
Officials said further information will be released as soon as rescuers reach the crash site and assess the condition of those involved.
