A snowstorm has prompted the suspension of all flights at Munich Airport, in Germany, on Saturday, affecting travel throughout the region.

The winter storm brought snowfall to southern Germany and parts of Austria and Switzerland.

Initially, the airport announced the suspension of air traffic until Saturday afternoon but later extended the flight cancellations until 6 a.m. on Sunday.

Other airports in the region, including Zurich, the capital of Switzerland, have also reported delays and cancellations due to adverse weather conditions.

Train services to and from Munich's central station have also been halted, with German National Railways advising passengers to delay or alter their travel plans.

Reports from the region indicate that some passengers in Munich and the nearby city of Ulm spent Friday night on trains due to the disruption.

Additionally, officials in the German football league announced the cancellation of a match between Bayern Munich and Union Berlin, originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon in Munich.

The inclement weather has led to various problems and accidents across the region.

Lower Bavaria police responded to about 350 snow and ice-related incidents between Friday night and Saturday morning, resulting in minor to moderate injuries in some cases.

In Austria and Switzerland, the recent heavy snowfall has raised concerns about avalanches.

The regions of Tyrol and Vorarlberg in western Austria have raised their avalanche warnings to the second-highest level after receiving up to 50 centimeters of snow overnight.
