In Seoul, South Korea's capital, a heavy snowfall on Thursday has caused significant disruptions to the subway operations, leading to delays.

According to officials from the Seoul Metro, the overnight snow led to the formation of ice on the railway lines at a train depot on the eastern end of the Seoul subway line, preventing trains from departing on schedule.

This resulted in operational delays of approximately 25 minutes, as reported by Yonhap News Agency.

The Korea Meteorological Administration noted that since Wednesday night, Seoul has experienced a snow accumulation of 13.8 centimeters (cm).

Following midnight, an additional 8.6 cm of snow piled up, marking the third-highest one-day snow accumulation for the city in February since the year 2000.

Other parts of the capital region also witnessed heavy snowfall, with 9.8 cm accumulating in Incheon, west of Seoul, and 5.8 cm in Suwon, to the south of the capital.

This unexpected weather event has tested the city's public transportation resilience, affecting commuters and the daily flow of the metropolis.
