Nearly 50 houses completely collapsed in the Kado area of the Nile River State in northern Sudan were killed due to heavy rains that struck the city, RT reporter said.

Additionally, "Sudan Tribune" reported that the civil defense forces in the Nile River State, northern Sudan, stated that heavy rains in the cities of Atbara and Ad-Dāmar resulted in the death of 4 individuals and injuries to others.

Meanwhile, the rising levels of the seasonal Dinder River in the Sennar State, southeast of the country, threaten agricultural lands and homes.

Both Atbara and Ad-Dāmar experienced heavy rains accompanied by strong winds that lasted throughout Monday night. The Director of Civil Defense in the state, Colonel Abdullah Suleiman, stated that the rains caused the collapse of a military housing unit in Atbara, resulting in the death of a woman and three children.

He confirmed that the bodies were recovered, and the water was pumped out of the building.

The heavy rains in Ad-Dāmar also led to the collapse of a house in the New Hala neighborhood, resulting in the death of one child and the rescue of another.

The civil defense forces are currently working on pumping water from the Atbara power substation after it was inundated by rainwater.

The Sudanese news site also mentioned that the civil defense in Atbara managed to pump water from the Al-Marabieat neighborhood, Atbara Prison, and several main streets.

In Sennar State, the water levels of the Dinder River continued to rise rapidly for the second day, registering 13.18 meters on Tuesday morning at the measuring station in Al-Dinder city, which falls under the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources.

This is an increase of 18 cm from the levels on Monday and an increase of 1.18 meters compared to the same day in 2022 when it measured 12 meters.
