South Korean authorities have reported one death and the evacuation of more than 100 residents following severe rainfall that struck parts of the country on Thursday.

According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, heavy downpours hit several areas in South Chungcheong Province, located south of Seoul, with rainfall totals exceeding 400 millimeters between Wednesday and Thursday morning.

Landslide warnings have been issued at the highest alert level in multiple regions, including South Chungcheong, as torrential rains continue to batter the area.

Local media outlet Yonhap News Agency reported that two individuals were rescued after being trapped by a landslide in the affected region.

Officials remain on high alert as weather conditions threaten further disruptions. Emergency teams are monitoring vulnerable zones and have advised residents to stay indoors and prepare for possible evacuations if the situation worsens.
