On Friday, heavy gunfire was reported near Haiti’s national palace in the capital of Port-au-Prince, according to reports reported by news agency EFE.
Haiti started a state of emergency last Sunday after huge conflicts escalated between armed groups, causing the displacement of 10,000 people.
US ABC News reported that the groups launched a large-scale assault against various governmental buildings in Port-au-Prince early on Friday evening.
The sources said the attacks included the presidential palace, the interior ministry, and a police headquarters for Haiti’s western district, which included Port-au-Prince.
The broadcaster said people witnessed severe gunfire and heard large explosions, therefore hundreds fled the area as the groups engaged in fierce battles against the police.
