The security situation in southern Lebanon has sharply deteriorated amid intense clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, following the outbreak of the conflict with Iran.
On the ground in southern Lebanon, fighting has continued overnight across multiple frontlines. Israeli troops have attempted ground advances in several areas, including the town of Khaim, where Hezbollah forces reportedly repelled the incursions and targeted three Merkava Tanks, local reports indicated.
The hostilities have also spread to other towns, including Houla and Aytaroun in the Bint Jbeil district, encompassing both eastern and central sectors of southern Lebanon. In some areas, Israeli forces issued evacuation orders for local residents.
Meanwhile, UNIFIL, in coordination with the Lebanese Army, intervened to evacuate the town of Alam al-Shaab.
The escalation has had severe humanitarian consequences. An estimated 700,000 people have been displaced, with ongoing airstrikes impacting key locations, including the cities of Tyre and Sidon, raising fears of further deterioration in the coming days.
The unfolding situation underscores the intensifying regional tensions as Israel and Hezbollah remain locked in a fierce confrontation, with civilians bearing the brunt of the conflict.
According to Israel’s Ministry of Health, a total of 2,339 Israelis have been hospitalized since the start of the Iran war, including thousands more injured in ongoing rocket and missile attacks.
