Egypt's Ministry of Health said on Tuesday that Johnson and Johnson's vaccine has proven effective in preventing COVID-19, via a single shot, and does not need booster doses.
Khaled Megahed, Ministry of Health spokesman confirmed that Egypt spares no efforts in providing vaccines to citizens for free.
Egypt is set to receive 2.5 million doses of Pfizer coronavirus vaccine during the coming period, according to Health Ministry spokesman.
In televised remarks, the spokesman added that the locally manufactured Senovac COVID-19 vaccine will be distributed among vaccination centers across the country as of August, 14.
On Monday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 83 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 284,789.
The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 16582 nationwide after the ministry announced 7 deaths.
About 71 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 233298.
