Dr. Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, confirmed that the Hanta virus does not represent a new pandemic similar to the emerging coronavirus (COVID-19), explaining that its transmission nature differs significantly from COVID-19.
Moreover, Abdel-Ghaffar clarified that the Hanta virus is primarily transmitted from rodents to humans through the inhalation of dust or contact with contaminated waste.
He also pointed out that person-to-person transmission is extremely rare, unlike the coronavirus, which spread rapidly through respiratory droplets and direct contact.
The spokesperson further noted that, to date, there are no confirmed cases of Hanta virus within the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the health situation is stable and is being monitored continuously by the authorities.
