The Ministry of Health and Population confirmed that COVID-19 third booster dose strengthens immunity and protects against serious symptoms, stressing that it comes 6 months after the second dose.
In a statement, the ministry added that the vaccines are safe and effective.
On Wednesday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 2101 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 461,299.
The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 23,519 nationwide after the ministry announced 54 deaths.
About 2765 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 393254.
The recent spike in infections comes as Egypt continues to push ahead with efforts to expand its vaccination campaign to vaccinate 70% of the population by the second half of 2022 amid the outbreak of the omicron variant.
