Health Ministry: 3 Dead, 94 Injured in Marsa Matrouh Train Derailment

The Ministry of Health and Population announced that the number of injured in the passenger train derailment, which occurred on a train traveling from Alexandria to Marsa Matrouh, has risen to 94 so far.

Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, instructed his deputy, Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb, to immediately head to the accident site to oversee on-ground medical and emergency services. 

He also ordered a state of maximum alert in regional hospitals and deployed 30 fully equipped ambulances to transfer the injured and provide first aid on site.

According to the ministry, the injured have been transferred to El-Dabaa Central Hospital and Ras El-Hekma Hospital. 

Medical teams are continuing to assess the condition of the patients, while ensuring the availability of sufficient blood supplies and derivatives to provide the necessary medical care.

The ministry also confirmed that three fatalities have been recorded, with the bodies transferred to the mortuary of Ras El-Hekma Hospital, currently under the custody of the Public Prosecution.

The Ministry of Health and Population reaffirmed its commitment to closely monitor the incident in coordination with relevant authorities, ensuring the provision of all necessary medical and emergency support. It further pledged to update the public with any new developments.

Dr. Abdel Ghaffar extended his deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased, praying for God’s mercy upon them and wishing a swift recovery for all the injured.
