Head of Egypt's Building Materials Contracts Coronavirus

Ahmed Abdul-Hamid, Chairman of the  Egyptian Chamber of Building Materials Industries (CBMI) contracted coronavirus and is currently subject to home isolation.

Abdul-Hamid, who owns Techno Marble Company in the 6th of October industrial zone is not the first case among investors who contracted the virus, real estate developer Moustafa Mansour was also infected with the deadly virus.

Meantime, the number of confirmed cases among workers is about 20, according to Mohamed Khamis Shaaban, chairperson of the 6th of October Investors Association.

Abdul-Hamid has announced earlier the donation of about EGP 1.3 million to support the state’s efforts to confront the virus by providing medical supplies to emergency doctors in quarantine hospitals, EGP 100,000 to the Unified Procurement of Medical Supply, and EGP 400,000 thousand pounds for Ahl Misr Foundation.

As for the 10th of Ramadan industrial zone, the cases of infection among workers, and administrators reached about 101 cases, 50 of which are recovering, while 51 cases receive treatment in isolation hospitals.

The 10th of Ramadan Investors Association continues in cooperation with the relevant agencies to direct campaigns to ensure that factories adhere to the preventive measures.

For the time being, Mohi Hafez, Chairman of the Committee of Health and Medical Industries is preparing to launch the first isolation center for coronavirus patients at a cost of EGP 27 million funded by investors of the 10th of Ramadan, with a capacity of 30 medical beds equipped with the highest medical standards, with the aim of supporting the state in its action to combat the pandemic.

Earlier last month, businessman Mansour El-Gammal died from the virus, while Naguib Sawiris announced that his brother Samih had discovered that he was infected with the virus, while he was in Switzerland for a surgical operation, and he recovered in less than a week.
