Dr. Haitham Al-Haj Ali, head of the Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF51), and head of the General Egyptian Book Organization ( GEBO), said that a ticket to the fair costs 5 pounds only this year.
He invited the Egyptian businessmen to participate in what he called the most important cultural forum in the Middle East, especially after its dazzling success over the recent years.
During the press conference held before kicking off the 51st version of the fair, Dr. Al-Haj Ali added that the high committee of the fair monitored 22 negative points last year’s version.
Those points linked to the new premises of (CIBF) in the Fifth Settlement, north east to Cairo. Various plans were drawn to find solutions to problems such as the long queues and crowds that appeared last year at the gates lead to the halls and the main entrances.
Arab and foreign guests stood for a long ting in those queues that have disrupted many activities and damaged the discipline and image of the fair.
Head of the CIBF pointed out to the electronic application introduced to. the public, saying, "There is a development for that application for visitors of the fair this year."
Maps of publishing houses, halls, and books as well will be drawn clearly so that the visitor can search on the name of any book to know where to find it. In addition, venues of seminars and the cultural program will be also mapped.
Dr. Al-Hajj Ali announced the construction of Hall (5), saying, "We are preparing a new hall in the form of a giant tent that has been designed already and its decoration will be completed later.
He assured the new tent is not a concrete building, but it is never compared to the old tents, and it completely embodies the idea of (GEBO) He unveiled that history of CIBF will be documented and introduced to the general public via the Internet.
The GEBO has started launching the service of republishing the old book fair seminars beginning with the 1988 version, whose protagonist was the Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani.
This service will provide a lot to the lovers of cultural activity of the book fair and those who miss them to attend those seminars, especially because of their number and conflicting dates.
