Archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass launched a link demanding the return of Queen Nefertiti’s head to Egypt. Hawass wrote, “I write on behalf of Egyptians to submit a request for the return of the statue of Nefertiti made of colored limestone, which is registered in the New Berlin Museum under the number AM 21300.
This magnificent bust, which is unique in history in terms of its historical and aesthetic value, is now in Germany, but the time has come to return it to its homeland, Egypt.
For many years, Egypt was deprived of several of its most important ancient Egyptian artefacts - one of them being a bust from the 18th Dynasty, which never failed to attract countless visitors to Berlin's famous New Museum.
Egypt's efforts to recover antiquities over the past twenty years have been commendable. From the United States to Europe, the Egyptian authorities, with the help of police agencies and international diplomatic bodies, succeeded in recovering thousands of antiquities that had left the country illegally.
