Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass accompanied Mr. Gennaro Sangiuliano, Minister of Culture and Antiquities of Italy, Ambassador of Italy to Cairo Michele Quaroni, and their accompanying delegation, during visiting the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.
Hawass talked about the most important discovery in the 21st century which is the discovery of the Wadi al-Jarf papyrus that told us many secrets in the construction of the pyramid of Khufu.
Hawass added that one of the most important archaeological discoveries that have been made so far is the discovery of the graves of the workers who built the pyramids, indicating that this discovery means that we have uncovered the graves in which the workers who built the pyramid were buried, and next to the graves we found the administration area in which were the bakeries that prepared bread for them. It contains the area for dried fish and the houses in which they lived.
Hawass added to the delegation that the Sphinx is a solid rock, and that the statue of the Sphinx belongs to King Khafre, the founder of the second pyramid, pointing out that the allegations that say that there is a lost city under the Sphinx are baseless, and have no scientific evidence at all.
