HBO Max debuted on Thursday the first photo of Harry Potter's forthcoming 20th-anniversary special, "Return to Hogwarts".
The photo featured the Golden Trio Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and Daniel Radcliffe sitting in what appears to be the Gryffindor Common Room.
This comes days after the streamer unveiled the first look at the highly-anticipated special.
The special will feature several key members of the Harry Potter franchise, including the trio as they come together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series’ first movie “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”, which premiered 20 years ago, on January 16, 2002.
Attendees of the reunion will also feature Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, and Ian Hart.
The footage featured the return of actors Coltrane (Hagrid), Lewis (Neville Longbottom), and Williams (Arthur Weasley), as they receive letters inviting them to join in the festivities.
The letters’ designs resemble the ones that the students receive from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the books and movies, offering them a seat to study magic at the institution.
It also featured a glimpse of Platform 9 3/4, which is where Harry and his friends board the Hogwarts Express.
“Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” is set to premiere on HBO Max on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2022.
The special is also set to screen on WarnerMedia’s TBS and Cartoon Network in spring 2022 ahead of the Warner Bros. Pictures of the premiere of “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”, which debuts on April 15, 2022.
The special will feature all-new, in-depth interviews and cast conversations as well as take the audience on a magical first-person journey through the franchise.
The Harry Potter movie franchise is comprised of eight movies that were released between 2001 and 2011. It is among the highest-grossing movie franchises of all time.
The special is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter.
It is executive produced by Casey Patterson of Casey Patterson Entertainment and Pulse Films.
