Handball: Egypt Defeat Bahrain to Meet Germany in Olympics Quarter-finals

The Egyptian handball team finished on Sunday the group stage after defeating Bahrain 30-20 to meet Germany in the quarter-finals at the Tokyo Olympics.

Egypt overcame the slow start to end the first half with an easy lead of 15-7, to maintain their performance until the end of the match with a 30-20 win.

Captain Ahmed Al-Ahmar was the best player in the game, scoring five goals from eight shots. He cemented his record as Egypt's top scorer in its Olympic history with 83 goals.

Goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Tayyar was another hero after he managed to save 15 out of the 35 Bahraini shots.

Meantime, Egypt ended Group stage B in the second spot after Denmark, which ended first.  It is expected to face Germany on Tuesday.

Egypt started the Olympics with an impressive 37-31 victory over Portugal before losing 32-27 to defending champion Denmark. They achieved a landslide victory over Sweden 27-22 before ending their group stage with an easy win (30-20) over Bahrain.

The Pharaohs are in a very good position to clinch their first gold in the Olympics.
